Lady Olivia and Tobias the Earl started their relationship off to an unconventional start. Olivia was not your typical lady of high society in London, she was taught to speak her own mind and do whatever she found pleasure in doing. She care not to be boxed in by what society wanted her to be, which Tobias discovered to be exactly what he wanted despite his aversion to being instantly attracted to her. Tobias wanted to marry a well bred, gentle in demeanor lady of high society, because he knew that one such lady would do her duty and will not tempt his passion to come out along with his temper. Unfortunately Lady Olivia had came into his life and his plans were immediately forgotten to his mother dismay. Tobias was the one to bring back honor to his family name and getting entangled with Lady Olivia was not a smart move. Tobias and Olivia despite their dislike for each other and stubbornness could not fight off the intense attraction for each which make for an interesting story. This story was a good mixture of drama, a little danger, a little betrayal, a little wit and a lot of charm. Wicked in His Arms Wedded by Scandal Book 2 edition by Stacy Reid Romance eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed reading Tobias Theodore Walcott, Earl of Blade and Lady Olivia Henrietta Sherwoods story.
Tobias was very mean and cold toward Livvie when she first went to live with his family. Tobias's mother the Dowager Countess of Blade was teaching proper comportment for a young lady begin received by the Ton. Livvies first season didn't go well. She was Not excepted by the Ton because her father had committed suicide leaving her and her mother in deep debt to pay off his gambling debts. But her mother re married Viscount Bathurst and he was a very good step father to Livvie but his son and heir William was a bad penny.
At a ball given by Tobias mother in honor of Livvies season Tobias's mistress show up. While hunting for his mistress who has decided to play games. He is seen by Livvie running into the linen closet. Tobias is trying to find the Ex Mistress to make her leave. Livvie sees this strange behavior and thinks maybe something is wrong with him and she follows him in the linen closet. They banner back and forth and then start kissing and then things really heat up and Tobias with consent takes Livvies virginity on a table in the linen closet. That was Not a good idea to me. A small table in a linen closet for a girls first time. Come On!! They are seen leaving the linen closet and there hair and clothes are in a disarray of course and are now compromised. A Week later they are married.
Tobias and Livvie have a very Hot sensual passionate relationship but Tobias has trouble excepting Livvies independent personality. I loved Livvie she has energy and she figures out how to handle her own problems even if the outcome might result in scandal. She is a strong women. Tobias is cold and stern because of the way his father abused his mother in front of them as children. I won't say I hated Tobias but I didn't like the way he looked down on Livvie and at times he downright insulted her before people.
The other problem I have with Wicked in His Arms. Is I wish the author Stacy Reid had researched the way the Aristocracy Titles worked. She refers to Livvie as Lady Olivia and she should have been an Honorable Miss referred to as Miss Olivia. Her father was a lowly Baron and her stepfather was a lowly Viscount and children produced under those title did not have curtesy titles of Lord and Lady. They just had an Honorable before there name. But if a reader doesn't know how the Aristocracy Titles work this part of the story won't bother them.
Overall it was a good story and I do Recommend it.
The setup—The last thing free-spirited Lady Olivia, or Livvie, wants is to be married and controlled by a man, but when her stepfather gets sick, he worries about her future and wants to send her to his cousin so she can be introduced to society and make a good match. Livvie isn’t having any of this, until her creepy stepbrother shows up and makes advances, and then she decides leaving for a while might be a good idea. The only problem, once in the house of her stepfather’s cousin, she also has to deal with the cousin’s son, Tobias, the Earl of Blade, who is cold and sort of mean and pretty hot. They immediately clash and the sparks fly, but Tobias is determined not to fall for someone who sets off his passionate side after witnessing his parents’ tempestuous and abusive relationship.
I thought this was a great read. Livvie and Tobias have awesome chemistry, with Livvie’s fire playing off of Tobias’s ice (or supposed ice…he’s pretty fiery himself when he lets his guard down—which is part of the problem for someone who doesn’t want a fiery relationship), and the early, combative interactions between them are a lot of fun. And while Tobias is cold and disdainful, I never thought he was actively cruel (which can be a problem with some alpha heroes but I think Stacy Reid manages to walk the line between cold/controlling and cruel very well). I think Reid also does a nice job of showing their progressing, sweetening relationship while still keeping things passionate. Definitely recommended!
Loved it! so much that I immediately starting downloading Stacy Reid's other books!
I love a spunky heroine and a strong hero. While these two were very much alike in how stubborn they can be and set in their ways, I loved the banter and overwhelming chemistry they had.
I enjoyed that while he was a pretty strong, alpha male, she did not have to rely on him to take care of herself. She took matters into her own hands to protect her honor. I loved that about Olivia.
I often find myself looking for romance books that will make me stay up all night, with an engaging story and "curl your toes" kind of romance. This book certainly did it for me and I look forward to reading Ms. Reid's other books.
